Job summary

Unitek Learning is seeking per diem nursing instructors in California to deliver high‑quality, student‑centered education. The role supports academic excellence, professional integrity, and evidence‑based practice in alignment with nursing standards and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities include exam administration, attendance tracking, coordination of clinical experiences, and ongoing communication with students. On‑site collaboration with faculty and staff is required.

Qualifications

  • RN license required.
  • Master of Nursing or higher from an accredited program.
  • Clinical teaching experience preferred.
  • At least four years’ direct patient care as an RN.
  • Clinical teaching within last five years.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with instructors to prepare, administer, and grade exams; participate in final evaluations.
  • Ensure attendance and grades are tracked and submitted.
  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives.
  • Plan and implement orientation for new faculty in theory & clinical facilities.
  • Apply adult learning principles to enhance classroom instruction.
  • Continuously improve teaching quality and methods.
  • Utilize online activities to support course content and engagement.
  • Maintain student records and assist with program data collection.
  • Submit required program reports to the Program Director in a timely manner.
  • Stay current with trends in healthcare technologies and safety regulations.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and education program committees.
  • Plan and supervise student clinical experiences in health care facilities.
  • Provide feedback on clinical performance after observations.
  • Ensure assignments meet student and facility needs; observe and evaluate students.
  • Provide in-person and remote access to students for ongoing communication.
  • Participate in student advising activities.
  • Role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

This role supports the mission of the institution by fostering academic excellence, professional integrity, and evidence-based practice in alignment with nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional outcomes.

Job responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations for the course. Participate in the preparation of the final evaluations for the course.
  • Responsible for assuring class attendance and grades are kept and submitted.
  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.
  • Plan and implement orientation of new faculty in theory & clinical facilities for the courses.
  • Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction.
  • Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Maintain student records and assist with program data collection.
  • Submit required program reports & forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Participate in committee activities that support the education program(s).
  • Attend faculty meetings
  • Plan and supervises student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities.
  • Follow all policies and procedures established by Unitek Learning.
  • Provide feedback on clinical performance or specific events immediately after observation.
  • Ensure clinical assignments meet student and facility needs.
  • Determine best method to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
  • Provide in-person and remote access to students for ongoing communication.
  • Participate in student advising activities.
  • The role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Hold a valid, active license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing
  • Master of Nursing or higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing or education, administration. OB, Pediatrics, Psychiatry or Medical Surgical
  • At least four years’ experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
  • A year of Clinical experience within the last five years (Clinical teaching applies toward direct patient care). Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c)
  • Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing – Psychiatric, Geriatrics, Med/Surg, Pediatrics or OB-Gyn
