Job description

BSN Instructor – Mental Health – Full Time Faculty
  • Full-time
  • Type of Position: Campus
  • Compensation: USD 115,000 - USD 120,000 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations for the course; participate in final evaluations for the course.
  • Ensure class attendance records and grades are kept and submitted accurately.
  • Assist in strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.
  • Plan and implement orientation for new faculty in theory and clinical facilities.
  • Utilize teaching principles that recognize adult learner characteristics.
  • Continuously improve quality of instruction.
  • Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for using online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Maintain student records of attendance, skills check‑off forms, and assist with program data collection.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Plan and supervise student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities.
  • Evaluate student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes per Unitek College policies and procedures.
  • Provide feedback on clinical performance immediately after observation.
  • Assist in maintaining student records of clinical attendance and skills check‑off forms.
  • Ensure clinical assignments meet student and facility needs.
  • Determine best methods to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
  • Verify that clinical facilities meet all health and safety requirements for Unitek College students.
  • Provide access to students for ongoing communication through scheduling of office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
  • Participate in student advising activities.

Qualifications:

  • No previous teaching experience required; Faculty Development training will be provided.
  • Hold a valid, active license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Master of Nursing or higher degree from an accredited institution in nursing or education, including coursework in nursing administration, OB, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry.
  • At least four years’ experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
  • At least one year of clinical experience within the last five years.
  • Expertise in one of the following areas: Psychiatric, Geriatrics, Med/Surg, Pediatrics, OB‑GYN, Mental Health.
