Responsibilities

• Perform functions as authorized under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
• Perform basic nursing tasks that include patient care, reporting patient conditions and circumstances, and maintaining equipment and unit cleanliness.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.

Conditions: May be required to work irregular schedules. Potential exposure to hazard materials/situations include but are not limited to blood‑borne pathogens, ionizing radiation, and communicable diseases.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and in good academic standing in either Amarillo College, West Texas A&M University, or Texas Tech Health Sciences Center's nursing programs.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program with an anticipated program completion within 24 months from the date of hire.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
