Our Bronx seeks a Housing Justice Community Organizer to advance affordable housing and tenant protections in the Bronx and beyond. The role centers on grassroots leadership development, tenant organizing, and policy campaigns, with a focus on environmental sustainability and anti-displacement.

The organizer will build tenant committees, meet tenants in their buildings, and coordinate with partners to address neglect, displacement, and rent concerns.

Qualifikationen

• At least 1 year of organizing experience.
• Familiarity with housing issues and community organizing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Adept at facilitation, collaboration, and consensus-building.

Aufgaben

• Support the development of the Housing Justice Committee.
• Organize tenants to address housing issues including repairs, overcharges, harassment, and discrimination.
• Research targets and identify leadership in buildings.
• Conduct outreach in buildings and recruit leaders.
• Help tenants form associations and plan organizing strategies.
• Mobilize tenants for campaigns and events.
• Conduct community outreach events, workshops, and trainings on tenant rights.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and training opportunities.
