Job summary

Northwestern University in Evanston, IL seeks an Assistant Director of Broadcast Production, StudentU Coordinator to oversee live streaming productions and student workforce management. You will recruit, schedule, onboard, payroll, and train student staff while coordinating with the Big Ten Network and venue partners to ensure high-quality broadcasts.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field and 1 year of live sports production experience, plus proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in video/film production, communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience with live sporting event production and knowledge of required equipment (router, switcher, graphics engines, replay machines).
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience with sports video production including shooting, editing and post-production.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop).
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to meet short deadlines and work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for Big Ten Network StudentU productions and staffing coordination.
• Recruit, interview, hire and retain student employees for live broadcasts.
• Manage scheduling, onboarding, payroll coordination and related administrative tasks.
• Develop and enhance a comprehensive student training program from hire to graduation with milestones.
• Plan and execute live StudentU streaming productions, serving in control room as needed.
• Troubleshoot technical issues to minimize disruption and protect broadcast quality.
• Lead equipment setup in venues and control rooms for StudentU productions.
• Collaborate with in-house production and venue partners to optimize resources.
• Coordinate with Big Ten Network on schedules, crew sheets, graphics updates and production standards.
• Maintain communication with students regarding schedules, expectations and feedback.
• Assist with additional Northwestern in-venue productions when needed.
• Adhere to department and university policies and NCAA/Big Ten rules.
