Job summary

WPVI-TV's Action News internship offers hands-on exposure in Philadelphia's #1 news operation. You’ll work with journalists, producers, photojournalists, and digital teams on real assignments, gaining front-row insight into how stories move from idea to broadcast and online distribution.

This part-time, six-month program runs January 2027 through June 2027 in Philadelphia, requiring a 20-hour weekly commitment and flexible scheduling to match news coverage.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated interest in journalism, storytelling, and current events through coursework, internships, or campus media.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills through academic, extracurricular, or internship experiences.
• Experience handling viewer inquiries and phone calls through internships or customer-facing roles.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist producers with election coverage and editorial meetings.
• Shadow journalists, photojournalists, and digital teams to learn newsroom workflows.
• Edit video and support assignment desk with developing stories.
• Field viewer calls and emails to the newsroom and reporters.
• Support coverage across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
• Learn how stories move from idea to broadcast.
