Job summary

The Nexstar Media Assistant Chief Engineer will oversee day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department and ensure the maintenance of all broadcast technology at the station and transmitter sites. This role supports the Chief Engineer in coordinating fiber connectivity, A/V routing, graphics, editing systems and IT infrastructure while meeting budgets and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Communications or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years' experience in a television broadcasting environment.
  • Familiarity with Bit Central, Overdrive, Cambot or ENPS software/hardware a plus.
  • Fluency in English; strong verbal and written communication.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing all aspects of the Engineering Department.
  • Maintains all broadcast technology and equipment for the station and transmitter sites.
  • Ensures station compliance with FCC, local, state, and federal laws.
  • Works with Chief Engineer to implement new technologies and infrastructure.
  • Assists with managing engineering capital projects within budgets.
  • Manages fiber connectivity, production setups, AV routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics and editing systems.
  • Evaluates, selects, installs, services and maintains station equipment and IT systems.
  • Repairs and maintains station building infrastructures.
  • Assists in maintaining station vehicle fleet including live satellite trucks.
  • Coordinates maintenance and training with vendors/contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
