A prestigious research university in Tallahassee is looking for a Broadcast Engineer (OPS). This temporary role involves live event engineering, signal distribution, and equipment management. The Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for live event engineering, including initiating and assisting with signal distribution, equipment repairs, equipment installations, equipment storage, and equipment maintenance supporting live sports broadcasting and in-venue entertainment. The Broadcast Engineer will report to the IT Manager and will work primarily with Seminole Productions. Seminole Productions is responsible for live sports broadcasting and live productions supporting sports venue entertainment (SVE) and special event productions at Florida State University.
This position handles the hardware and software for FSU Athletics, Seminole Boosters, and Seminole Productions.
Responsible for engineering support of live sports broadcasts and in-venue productions. Assist with the management and signal distribution of server rooms, production control rooms, storage spaces, and venues.
Responsible for configuration of broadcast equipment, including, but not limited to, equipment setup and strike, routing and patching of sources and destinations, routing and patching of Dante and physical audio sources, patching of fiber and optical camera connections, multiview configuration, communication panel configuration, etc.
Responsible for troubleshooting above systems, including network and fiber connectivity.
Responsible for assisting with equipment maintenance, repair, and installation, as well as future purchase forecasting.
Responsible for assisting live production operators with troubleshooting of their equipment and/or positions during events.
Responsible for assisting with Athletics Information Technology tasks.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years in a relevant field.
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to individuals of varying skill sets, at times in high pressure situations. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions.
This position requires a valid FL drivers license.
Previous experience with and/or knowledge of one or more of the following Ross Acuity, Ross Xpression/Dashboard, Evertz Magnum, Yamaha Mixers, Dreamcatchers, RTS, Panasonic cameras. Previous experience working within an athletics department.

What is a typical day in this position?
On an event day, the candidate will arrive prior to the 'call time' or arrival time of various crew members, in order to set the room and engineering equipment for the show. The candidate will then assist with troubleshooting and engineering related tasks, as needed, until the show is on-air. The candidate may be required to stay for the length of the event depending on the event’s importance.
On a non-event day, this position is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and clean up of engineering related items, as well as preparing for the next broadcast event.
