A-V Services, Inc. is seeking a Broadcast Engineer for onsite support in New York. The role emphasizes excellent customer service within the corporate sector and requires strong AV skills. Ideal candidate has an associate degree in technology or 3+ years in AV support and will work in an advanced broadcast environment.

The Broadcast Operations & Engineering team seeks expert knowledge of SMPTE 2110, ProAV, and spine/leaf networks, with a focus on live events and complex TV environments.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a technology related field or 3+ years in AV support.
• Strong customer service with focus on corporate work sector.
• Experience in live events and broadcast environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership during outages and ensures redundancy.
• Monitors systems pre-event and during events.
• Develops EOL strategy, upgrade paths, and integration plans.
• Acts as single point of contact for network changes and patches.
• Drives proactive monitoring of critical systems.
• Coordinates with event production leadership for readiness.
• Develops and maintains SOP documents.

Job description

A-V Services Inc., a leading AV company with multiple fortune 100 contracts within the financial, pharmaceutical and computing industry, seeks an Broadcast Engineer for onsite support. Must have great customer service with emphasis supporting the corporate work sector. Additionally, comprehensive audio video skills. Ideal candidate would have Associates level college degree in a technology related field and/or minimum 3 years of previous employment with AV support responsibilities in the AV industry.

The Broadcast Operations & Engineering requires an expert level understanding of broadcast engineering, spine and leaf networks, operational experience in complex broadcast T.V environments/ live event spaces and should have prior experience as a senior video engineer, and/or senior technical operator.

Schedule:

This position requires working an afternoon/evening shift, with hours of either 2:00 PM-10:00 PM or 3:00 PM-11:00 PM

Job Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and timely resolutions during major outages, and ensures all redundant paths are working and/or break glass solutions are deployed
• Provides proactive monitoring and system integrity checks – pre-event and during events
• Provides development of EOL strategy, upgrade design path and integration plan in line with capital refresh cycle and a/v engineering strategy
• Works as a single point of contact for all network changes and patches, and partners with network engineers and a/v engineering on all outages and resolution
• Drives proactive monitoring of all critical systems
• Works with head of event production, head of virtual production and conference center operations manager(s) to ensure event readiness.
• Develop, publish and maintain comprehensive operational SOP documents

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Deep knowledge of deployment and/ or operational experience with SMPTE 2110 (Audio, Video, Data Over IP)
• Providius – Media Analysis, Network Telemetry and Cyber Security tool
• Deep knowledge of advanced and practical broadcast and ProAV signal flows and processing
• Deep knowledge of spine and leaf network topology (Arista DCS-Series, CCS-Series, Media Control Service [MCS] & CloudVision), Core understanding of network protocols, network services and how they relate to a broadcast IP Media network

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Deep knowledge of Immersive Design Studio’s, CANVAS System. A live event experience media server system with Zoom integration, and deep knowledge of Broadcast Control Systems, notably EVS, Cerebrum software
• Deep knowledge of Ross video switching ecosystem. Ultrix Carbonite & xPression , and advanced knowledge of ProAV digital audio mixers, DSP’s. Q-Sys
• Deep knowledge with a/v & broadcast system design and integration, real estate / construction principles
• Deep knowledge of RF distributed technology and Shure Axient systems
