Job summary

Cleveland State University-Engaged Learning is seeking a qualified educator to teach technical modules in film and television production and postproduction, while supervising and maintaining the school's technical operations and infrastructure.

The role requires extensive knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, plus strong leadership and communication to support curriculum goals and classroom technology across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast engineering, film or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a television broadcast facility, film/video or production/postproduction.
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of related technical equipment and the context of its use in production and broadcast activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned staff and oversee technical operations within the School of Film & Media Arts.

Job description

Cleveland State University-Engaged Learning

Responsible for teaching technical modules related to film and television production and postproduction, as well as supervising and maintaining technical operations and infrastructure in the School of Film & Media Arts. Possesses and demonstrates extensive knowledge of the theories, techniques and methods associated with the operation and maintenance of assigned equipment. Manages assigned staff. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Typically, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in broadcast engineering, film or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a television broadcast facility, film/video or production/postproduction.
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of related technical equipment and the context of its use in production and broadcast activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Society of Broadcast Engineers or Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers certification.
  • Seven (7) years practical experience in the broadcasting or film industry.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery.
  • Knowledge of audiovisual and classroom hardware standards and functionality.
  • Knowledge of network and PC troubleshooting techniques and computer-connected instructional equipment.
  • Knowledge of audio visual and information technology concepts and terminology.
  • Knowledge of instructional design theories, pedagogical methods, and online/hybrid teaching strategies.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and collaborative management for all event, instructional, and classroom technology activities.
  • Strong team-building skills and the ability to work well across various academic and technical disciplines.
  • Capacity to make connections between curricular goals and technology-enhanced instruction.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and forward-thinking.
