Job summary

Kokosing Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced field leader to supervise multiple foremen on large Heavy Highway/Bridge projects. You will coordinate safety, production, and profitability, while guiding crews and subcontractors through complex schedules.

Responsibilities include planning, training, and performance management, with a focus on efficiency and quality. Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of field management are preferred; roadway/highway experience is a strong plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent technical path through Journeyman/Foreman to Superintendent.
• 6+ years of field management experience in heavy/highway/bridge construction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage several foremen to perform safe, productive, and high-quality work.
• Establish a 24/7 safety culture for crews and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Assist the Project Manager in creating and maintaining project schedules.
• Develop 90-day and 3-week crew schedules and coordinate pre-planning activities.
• Oversee costs and manage manpower, equipment, tooling, and materials.
• Coordinate subcontractors and ensure timely delivery of services and materials.

Job Description

Summary:

Supervise the skilled trades crews and manage onsite construction activities for large, extensive Heavy Highway/roadway/Bridge projects. Collaborating with the Operations Manager, Project Manager, and Project Engineers, this role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Project, focusing on Safety, Production, and Profitability.

Supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, include: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities may include assisting with interviewing and training employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage several Foreman on conducting work safely, productively, and focusing on quality.
• Set a Safety 24/7 culture for your crews.
• Assists the Project Manager in creating the project schedule.
• Develop 90-day and 3-week schedules for crews.
• Conduct pre-planning and goal setting with crews.
• Oversee costs associated with your work items.
• Coordinate manpower, heavy equipment, tooling and material needs for crews.
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent technical experience progressing through the ranks as a Journeyman to a Foreman to a Superintendent. (6+) years similar construction Field Management experience. Roadway/Highway experience is preferred and a strong plus.

Skills and Abilities

• Understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards.
• Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
• Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activity’s vitals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied self-performing trade disciplines.
• Assemble 90-day and 3-week schedules in Microsoft Excel and use Microsoft Word for pre-planning processes.
• Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.
