Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Bridge/Structural Project Engineer to lead engineering and planning for complex projects, reporting to the Project Manager and coordinating safety, documentation, plans and schedules.

Responsibilities include reviewing contract documents, estimating costs, acquiring permits, managing logs, updating schedules, and ensuring quality of materials and subcontractor invoices; extensive travel in SW Virginia is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Experience working on bridge/structural projects.
• Master’s Degree in engineering/Construction and two years of heavy civil DOT/large site construction (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Measure, report and forecast accurate cost and revenue dollars and quantities.
• Fully review contract documents, drawings and specifications.
• Assist PM in defining project budget and cost codes.
• Prepare Initial Budget Adjustments for PM review prior to start of work.
• Ensure the acquisition of permits through appropriate channels as required.
• Maintain and update RFI Log, Change Order Log, and Submittal Log.
• Maintain and update the Materials Book – C25s/Certs/Etc.
• Support quality control and ensure approved materials are used.
• Draft and submit Change Orders and RFIs per PM approval.
• First level approval of subcontractor invoices for PM final approval.
