Job summary

WSP USA in Greenville, SC is seeking a Bridge Inspection Technician to support routine inspections, load ratings, and testing while developing engineering skills. You will assist with field work, documentation, and preliminary design tasks under mentorship.

The role emphasizes learning bridge engineering principles, complying with safety standards, and contributing to project research and cost estimates. Authorization to work in the United States is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Interest in Civil/Structural Engineering and desire to advance in WSP projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Technician out of our Greenville, SC office!


Job Responsibilities:


  • Assist with North Carolina and South Carolina Routine Bridge inspections, load ratings and non-destructive testing.


  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.


  • Learn basic principles of Bridge Engineering.


  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.


  • Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.


  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.


  • Complete training on assigned tasks.


  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.


  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.



Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in Civil / Structural Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.


  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.


  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.


  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.


  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
