Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Engineer IV for our Denver, Colorado office. The role involves routine to fracture-critical inspections, use of snooper/bucket trucks, and potential design tasks in compliance with state and municipal standards.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in bridge inspection/design, a PE license (or reciprocity), and the ability to supervise a team while ensuring safety and quality in all inspections.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree and 6+ years of experience or equivalent.
• PE license or ability to obtain reciprocity within 1 year of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates for transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures.
• Provide load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structural evaluations.
• Lead field inspections of bridges and other transportation structures in accordance with NBIS.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Engineer IV at the Denver, Colorado office to perform routine, in-depth, fracture critical, tunnel, and canal inspections. Inspections may include use of snooper trucks, bucket trucks, boats, and/or man lifts.

This opportunity can include bridge design work and the ability to complete design related tasks with a clear understanding of state, regional and municipal standards.

The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following

• Prepare structural designs, plans, specifications and cost estimate for transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures.
• Provide load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structure type analysis evaluations.
• Use current engineering design software.
• Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.
• Lead and conduct field inspections of bridges and other transportation structures following NBIS (National Bridge Inspection Standards) and other relevant regulations.
• Supervise and mentor bridge inspection team members, ensuring quality and safety in all inspection activities.
• Evaluate structural integrity and document deficiencies, deterioration, and maintenance needs through detailed reports, sketches, and photographs.
• Utilize inspection tools, software, and drones (as applicable) to perform comprehensive structure assessments.
• Prepare inspection reports, load ratings, and rehabilitation recommendations in accordance with industry standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• PE license or ability to attain reciprocity in possessing another U.S. state PE license within one year of employment.
• A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience with bridge inspection and/or bridge design.
• PE highly preferred
• AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) experience
• AASHTOWare Bridge Management experience
• FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certification
• FHWA-NHI-130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges Certification
• FHWA-NHI-130110 Tunnel Safety Inspection Certification
• Experience operating snooper trucks, bucket trucks, and man lifts

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $110000 to $175000.
