The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience (or advanced degrees). PE licensure in NJ/NY is preferred, with experience in FHWA training and AASHTOWare BrR or CSI Bridge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • PE licensure in NJ and NY preferred.
  • Bridge inspection experience with local agencies encouraged.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and supervise bridge inspections including scheduling and reporting.
  • Perform and review structural load rating calculations.
  • Develop inspection criteria and estimate quantities and costs.
  • Mentor junior staff and coordinate multi-discipline teams.

The Engineer III is responsible for assisting in the planning, execution, and documentation of inspections, including preparation of field notes, defect identification, and development of repair recommendations.The role includes performing and supporting as-inspected load ratings using established methodologies and software, as well as assisting in the evaluation of structural capacity and condition. The Engineer III works closely with Project Managers and Team Leaders to support inspection program delivery, report preparation, and client coordination.This position also involves responding to emergency inspection requests, including rapid condition assessments following incidents or structural concerns, and supporting the development of immediate repair or stabilization recommendations.The Engineer III applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria across a range of inspection and rehabilitation projects. Responsibilities may also include mentoring junior staff, reviewing work products, and contributing to the continuous improvement of inspection and data management processes.As part of the team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of inspection and asset management services for a diverse portfolio of transportation infrastructure clients.What You'll Do:Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.Assist in the development of project specifications.Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members.Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.Performs other duties as assigned.What You'll Need:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, orMaster’s degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experienceWhat You'll Bring:Perform and supervise bridge inspection services including schedling, inspections, report writing and review and database management.Perform and/or review structural load rating calculations of various bridges.Develop project inspection and safety criteria, load rating calculations, and estimating National Bridge Element quantities and costs.Cost control on projects and quality control within bridge discipline.Resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, investigate structural deficiencies and field engineering difficulties and coordinate schedules.Manage single and multi-discipline structural engineering projectsProvide technical guidance and mentoring of project team members, including other engineers and technical support staff such as (Assistant Team Leaders and Subconsultants).Lead a small team of engineers in the execution of project design and production on both small and large projects.Prepare and check condition survey drawings and/or specifications.Review and check engineering work completed by others.Oversee planning and inspection phases of projects.Market to clients in pursuit of additional projects.What We Prefer:PE licensure in the states of NJ and NY.Bridge inspection experience with local agencies such as PANY&NJ, NJ Transit, NJTA and/or NJDOT.Successful completion of FHWA National Institute's 130092 training course \"Fundamentals of LRFR and Application of LRFR for Bridge Superstructures\" and 130078 \"Bridge Inspection Techniques for Nonredundant Steel Tension Members\" within the last 5 years.Successful completion of FHWA National Institute's 2 week training course 130055 \"Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges\" including 5 year refresher training 130053 as needed.Successful completion of FHWA National Institutes' 130110 \"Tunnel Safety Inspection\" training.Experience with load ratings using software packages such as AASHTOWare's Bridge Rating (BrR), CSi Bridge, etc.Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights, within confined spaces, using specialized bridge inspection access equipment, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, and working alongside highways and/or railroads using traffic and railroad flagging protection services as needed, etc.OSHA 10 hour certification.Additional InformationClick here for benefits information: HNTB Total RewardsClick here to learn more about Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/VeteranVisa sponsorship is available for this position.#AS #Bridges.Locations:Parsippany, NJ (Fairfield)........The approximate pay range for New Jersey is $100,048.18 - $156,485.61.
