Job summary

CPKC is seeking an Engineer Bridge Inspection to perform scheduled, periodic, and emergency railroad bridge inspections and provide field feedback. The role includes training and oversight for field maintenance staff, with a company vehicle and travel expenses covered. Headquarters can be in Chicago, IL, Kansas City, MO, Davenport, IA or St.

Paul, MN. Requirements include a Civil Engineering degree (PE/EIT preferred) and railroad inspection experience.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
PE or EIT licensing preferred.
Experience in railroad bridge inspection preferred.
Ability to inspect bridges at heights with fall protection.
US passport to travel cross border to Canada and Mexico.
Valid driver’s license (unrestricted).

Responsibilities

Complete bridge inspections per FRA Bridge Safety standards and CPKC Policy.
Audit bridge maintenance/renewal work for compliance with CPKC Structures Red Book.
Recommend actions to Territory Manager Bridge Maintenance.
Inspect railroad bridges, overhead highway structures, culverts, retaining walls, and turntables.
Direct usage and operation of Bridge Inspection Vehicle.
Build relationships with Engineering counterparts across territory.
Request and obtain required track authorities for on-track inspections.
