Job summary

RailWorks in Evansville, IN is seeking a Craft Foreman to direct work groups on active railway property and through construction zones. Using railway operating rules, you will help ensure contractors clear the working zone before a train arrives, minimizing delays to operations.

The role requires at least 4 years in the railway industry, knowledge of safety practices, and the ability to read schedules and railway plans.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 4 years related job experience in the railway industry.
• Experience with timber bridge repair preferred.
• Track Inspection Guidelines certification is an asset.
• Ability to read and understand schedules, standard railway plans and specifications.
• Ability to work in a safety sensitive position directing work groups on live railway corridors.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and railway safety regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Embrace our safety culture and adhering to industry and company policies and procedures.
• Conducts daily job briefings so contractors understand site-specific instructions.
• Review the work site daily with Supervisor or contractors’ representative for hazards.
• Set up, reposition, and dismantle railway signals at designated locations.
• Communicate with the work group, flagmen, and Rail Traffic Controllers to ensure clear instructions.
• Operate company vehicles and perform daily maintenance/inspections.
• Perform special duties as assigned by the Capital Supervisor.
• Handle administrative duties per Quality Management System.
