Job summary

COWI is seeking a Bridge Engineer to contribute to high-profile infrastructure projects in the Seattle region. You will work closely with the Technical Director and Project Managers, collaborating with customers on challenging designs and deliveries.

The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering background, PE eligibility within 12 months, and 8+ years in bridge design. Familiarity with AASHTO and structural software is essential. Seattle-based hybrid work model offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; PE license expected within 12 months of employment.
• 8+ years of bridge design experience in relevant markets.
• Familiar with AASHTO codes and structural analysis software such as MDX, LARSA, CSiBridge, MIDAS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work plans, schedules, and budgets with analysis of complex structures.
• Coordinate with senior engineers on proposals, project coordination, and client meetings.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, and technical reports per design codes.
• Prepare standard construction documents, specifications, and proposal documents.
• Conduct bridge inspections, load rating analyses, seismic evaluations, and retrofit studies.
• Provide construction support including submittal reviews and site visits.
• Supervise junior engineers in designs and documentation.

You will work closely with your Technical Director and Project Managers alongside our customers on some of North America's most significant projects.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Prepare work plans, schedules, and budgets along with performing analysis of complex structures
• Work with senior engineers in proposals, project coordination, and client communications and meetings
• Prepare design calculations and drawings in accordance with applicable design codes, and also prepare engineering reports and other technical documents
• Prepare standard construction documents, such as technical specifications and proposal documents
• Conduct bridge inspections, load rating analyses, seismic evaluations, and retrofit/rehabilitation studies
• Provide support during construction, including submittal reviews and site visits and perform other responsibilities as required
• Work with and supervise junior engineers in performing designs and other engineering tasks and preparing documents

On top of that, you will:

• Hold a bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master's degree), be registered as PE in the home state or can obtain within 12 months of employment, and with a minimum of 8 years of related experience in Bridge Design, or an equivalent
• Be familiar with the use of structural design codes such as AASHTO along with having sufficient exposure to structural analysis software programs (ex: MDX, LARSA, CSiBridge, MIDAS., etc…)
• Be conversant in the use of engineering software such as Excel, and Mathcad to efficiently produce engineering calculations.

Base compensation: $88,000 to $136,200 for Seattle location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
