Job summary

HDR is seeking a Bridge EIT to contribute to the design and detailing of bridges, box culverts, and interchanges for highway and railway projects. You will apply structural engineering techniques, perform load calculations, and support quantitative development in a collaborative, employee-owned environment.

The role requires a Master’s in Structural Engineering with hands-on experience in bridge design and proficiency with industry software.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering is required.
  • Experience in bridge/structural design is essential.
  • Proficiency with multiple engineering software packages listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in bridge design.
  • Develop designs for bridges, box culverts, interchanges for highways/railways.
  • Select standard procedures and produce structural details using software.
  • Perform load calculations and assist with layout and quantity development.
  • Participate in bridge inspections and related calculations.

In the role of Bridge EIT, we'll count on you to:

  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects
  • Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software
  • Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
  • Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience in bridge/structural design
  • Familiarity with additional engineering software packages such as: BridgeLink, LARSA, ADINA, Cap18
Required Qualifications
  • MS Office, MathCAD and AutoCAD, LARSA and Prestress Concrete Design experience
  • Knowledge of and some familarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge
  • Knowledge of Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design
  • Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
