Job summary

The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is seeking a Bridge EIT in Vienna, Virginia. In this role, you will apply structural engineering techniques in developing bridge designs and conducting load calculations. You will work closely on projects including box culverts and interchanges.

Bridge EIT

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
• Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects
• Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software
• Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
• Develop structural details using basic structural design and analysis software.
• Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering
• Bachelors degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering field
• Experience in bridge/structural design
• EIT or a passed FE exam. Candidates hired without their EIT will be title "Bridge Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
• Local candidates preferred

Required Qualifications

• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
• Strong understanding and hands‑on use of computers for structural layout and design
• Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
