Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent) and experience in design drafting or related field.
  • Four years of full-time work experience in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, or construction inspection; and additional education/experience as described in the minimum qualifications.
  • Four years of full-time work experience in design drafting and related areas, plus two years of education/experience as specified; or vocational program in related fields equaling two years of experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch including eighteen months as a Design Technician Associate.

Responsibilities

  • Review CAD files and support CAD quality assurance checks.
  • Create and maintain scheduling and project data reports in the DOT system.
  • Assist in tracking resources and projects and generate reports.
  • Check/report on Project Asset ID folders to ensure documentation is complete.
  • Provide guidance on 3D CONNECT design integration in the Bridge Bureau.

Then look no further!! The Bridges and Structures Bureau is seeking to hire a Bridge Design Technician (Design Technician) who will be an essential part of the Bridge Project Development team in our Consultant Coordination and Preliminary Bridge Units.

Work Hours

Days M-F, flex available. Occasional travel to workshops and conferences.


Duties

This position will provide reviews of CAD files, create and maintain scheduling reports, and help maintain data for the Bridges and Structures Bureau (BSB). Duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Administer CAD quality assurance checks and electronic file support (E.G., file naming conventions, file content and modeling organization, team support on CAD standards, as well as electronic documentation and filing organization)

  • Assist Administrator and the Preliminary Bridge Manager on tracking and reporting of resources and projects, including creating reports in the DOT’s scheduling system.

  • Checking/Reporting on Project Asset ID folders to help ensure completion of documentation for completed projects.

  • Provide guidance on the integration of 3D CONNECT design in the Bridge Bureau.

  • Complete special assignments, generally related to reporting/tracking, for the Consultant Coordinator.

Minimum Qualification Requirements


  • Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent), and experience equal to six years of full-time work in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, or construction inspection.

  • All of the following (a and b): Four years of full-time work experience in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, or construction inspection; and A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

  • All of the following (a and b): Four years of full-time work experience in design drafting, cartography, photogrammetry, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, or construction inspection; and A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of an accredited vocational program in engineering technology, design drafting, engineering survey, soils survey, land survey, construction inspection, or cartography equals two years of full-time experience.

  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Design Technician Associate.
