Job summary

Stantec in Laurel, MD is seeking Structural Bridge Engineers/Inspectors to work on bridge design and inspection projects across Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The role offers growth toward leadership in inspections or project management for design tasks.

You will contribute to design calculations, CAD drafting, cost estimates, and load ratings while performing field inspections and writing reports. Travel within the region is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of bridge inspection experience; bridge design a plus.
• Bridge inspection and design in MD/VA/DC desired.
• Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Inspection experience with large complex bridges and fracture-critical members preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record. E.I.T. required.

Responsibilities

• The majority of work includes bridge design and inspection projects for DOTs and municipalities in MD/VA/DC; may include rail projects.
• Prepare design calculations, plans, CAD drafting, and cost estimates; assist PM with provisions/specifications.
• Review contractor submittals during construction under senior engineer guidance.
• Evaluate existing structures and develop load ratings.
• Prepare engineering reports and technical studies; assist on roadway and site civil design tasks.
• Perform inspections of bridges and prepare inspection reports.
