Job summary

United Infrastructure Group is seeking a Bridge Carpenter to join our construction team in the Southeast. The role involves building forms for concrete footings, slabs, walls, columns, decks, and bent caps, with emphasis on precision and safety.

You will follow blueprints, prepare layouts, shape and assemble materials, and erect forms and scaffolding. This position requires willingness to travel and work varied shifts as needed by projects.

Qualifications

  • Must follow safety rules and maintain a safe, clean site.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specs.
  • Must adhere to UIG policies and procedures and support the company mission.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and keep a clean work area.
  • Select lumber or materials as specified.
  • Prepare layout with tape measure and framing square.
  • Mark cut lines on materials with pencil and chalk.
  • Shape materials to specified sizes with hand tools or power tools.
  • Assemble and fasten materials with nails, pins or glue.
  • Construct forms and chutes for concrete pours.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for elevated work.
  • Saw lumber to blueprint dimensions and assemble form panels.
  • Install forms, embeds, and anchor them as required.
  • Layout and install embeds in concrete formwork.
  • Complete other duties as directed by supervisor.

Role Overview: Bridge Carpenter

As a Bridge Carpenter at UIG, you will be a vital part of our construction team, responsible for the precise construction of forms for concrete footings, slabs, walls, columns, bridge decks, and bent caps.

Typical Duties
  • Follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Select specified type of lumber or other materials.
  • Prepare layout, using a rule or measuring tape and framing square.
  • Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, using a pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Shape materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes.
  • Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above the ground level.
  • Saw lumber to blueprint dimensions, using a handsaw or power saw, and nail lumber together to make form panels.
  • Erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms.
  • Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, and steel cables.
  • Some assembly of forms may be required by bolt up connections.
  • Layout and install embeds in concrete formwork.
  • Complete all additional duties as directed by supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • Work within precise standards of accuracy.
  • Must have basic carpenter tools.
  • Rate information using standards, which can be measured or checked.
  • Compare and see differences in the size, shape, and forms of lines, figures, and objects.
  • Must follow policies and procedures and support UIG’s mission.
Requirements: ALL Applicants must be:
  • 18 years of Age
  • Able to pass a Drug Test
  • Legally Eligible to Work in the US
  • Open to working different shifts if needed by the project
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from jobsite every workday (driver's license preferred)
  • Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools)
  • Willingness to travel for project requirements (multi-state opportunities)
