Job summary

Thimble Alterations in California is seeking an experienced bridal seamstress to work one-on-one with brides through the entire alteration process. This is an independent contractor role with bookings provided through our platform.

You will conduct fittings, customize gowns (hemming, seams, bodice shaping, neckline, sleeves), create bustles, and also handle bridesmaid and ceremony attire. You will guide brides on timelines and what to expect on the day of the event.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated bridal alteration experience with portfolio or references preferred.
• Ability to work with high-value wedding gowns and fit them precisely.
• Strong customer-facing presence to reassure brides during fittings.
• Reliable workspace with room for fittings and steaming.

Responsibilities

• Conduct first, second, and final fittings with brides for their wedding gowns.
• Customize gowns: hemming, side seams, bodice shaping, neckline adjustments, sleeve modifications.
• Create bustles tailored to dress design and bride preference.
• Handle bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride gowns, and ceremony attire alongside the main gown.
• Guide brides through possible alterations, timelines, and what to expect on the day.
