Job summary

BBQ Holdings, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA, operates Granite City Brewhouse and seeks a Brewhouse Operator. You will produce wort and maintain brewing equipment, overseeing milling, mashing, lautering, wort boiling, cooling, and transfers to storage vessels.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Brewing experience is preferred but not required.
• Must be able to pass a motor vehicle records background check.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Complete brewing process including milling, mashing, lautering, wort boiling, cooling and transferring to storage vessels.
• Repair brewery equipment with assistance from other Brewhouse staff.
• Complete daily cleaning and maintenance checklists.
• Aid with yeast propagation following company processes.
• Maintain cleanliness of all brew house areas.
• Work with Lab Technician to ensure product quality.
• Follow SOPs unless instructed otherwise.
• Communicate regularly with Granite City staff.
• Maintain inventory and report low levels to supervisor as needed.
• Arrive on time with a positive attitude.
• Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is primarily responsible for producing wort and maintaining brewing equipment and facility.
Primary Job Responsibilities

• Complete brewing process in a safe and efficient manner. This includes, but is not limited to, milling, mashing, and lautering, wort boiling, cooling and transferring to Storage vessels.
• Repair brewery equipment with assistance from other Brewhouse employees.
• Completion of daily cleaning and maintenance checklists
• Aid with yeast propagation following Company's process.
• Maintain cleanliness of all areas in the brew house.
• Work with Lab Technician to ensure our product meets our standards of the highest quality.
• Maintaining the use of standard operating procedures unless otherwise instructed.
• Communicate regularly and efficiently with Granite City staff.
• Maintain inventory as needed. Report any low levels of inventory to your supervisor when necessary.
• Arrive to each shift on time with a positive attitude.
• Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
• Perform others duties as assigned.
  

Requirements

• Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple projects with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Passion and commitment for brewing.
• Able to lift heavy objects (empty kegs, 50 pound malt bags, etc.) above five feet in height

• Able to understand MSDS and handle chemicals utilized in the brewery

Educational Requirements
