Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Breeder Manager to organize and supervise breeder hen and pullet production, ensuring weekly eggs reach the hatchery in the right numbers and quality. You will project egg supply, manage production costs, and supervise advisors for bird and grower management.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in agriculture or equivalent, 3+ years in poultry, and ability to travel. You’ll lead operations with a focus on biosecurity and adherence to welfare policies across farm and hatchery

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in poultry/agriculture preferred.
  • Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year.
  • Supervise a team in a single department or work unit.
  • Must sign bio-security agreement and follow welfare policy.

Responsibilities

  • Egg projections to determine pullet placements and egg supply.
  • Manage egg production to maintain high-quality hatching eggs at low cost.
  • Supervise technical advisors in bird and grower management.
  • Aid growers in bird management and farm operations.
  • Oversee policies for grower and hatchery operations.
  • Coordinate pullet and male breeder movement and placement.
  • Maintain relationships between Tyson Foods and contract growers.
  • Manage the sale of breeder hens.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job Details

The Breeder Manager is a vital role responsible for organizing and supervising all aspects of breeder hen and pullet production. This ensures the proper number and quality of eggs are received at the hatchery each week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Egg Projections: Perform egg projections to determine pullet placements and ensure a consistent egg supply to the hatchery.
  • Egg Production Management: Manage egg production to ensure high‑quality hatching eggs at the lowest cost possible.
  • Supervision: Supervise technical advisors in bird and grower management.
  • Grower Support: Aid growers in bird management, overall farm management, equipment, etc.
  • Policy Oversight: Oversee policies and procedures for both grower and hatchery operations.
  • Coordination: Coordinate placement and movement of breeder pullets and males.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain a good working relationship between Tyson Foods and contract growers.
  • Sales Management: Manage the sale of breeder hens.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years’ experience in a poultry or agriculture‑related field preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Elementary computer skills, such as checking electronic mail, entering data into document templates, or creating simple queries.
  • Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for supervising a group of personnel in a single department or work unit who perform similar and/or interrelated tasks and activities.
  • Reports To: Live Production Manager
  • Biosecurity: Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered, required to sign a Bio-security agreement to avoid any non‑commercial avian species examples: chickens, ducks, birds, parakeets, parrots, etc. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
