Job summary

Meridian Health Services is seeking a Breastfeeding Coordinator for our Indiana WIC locations (Adams, Blackford, Jay, Wells, Randolph, Huntington). This is a full-time role, 32 hours weekly, with up to 75% travel to assist in other counties and support breastfeeding initiatives.

You will build relationships with staff and community partners, promote breastfeeding as the norm, ensure confidentiality, and oversee local agency activities.

Qualifications

• Registration eligible to take the exam for the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Nutrition Sciences.
• Registered Nurse.
• Graduate of a health-related program which includes nutrition coursework.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Indiana WIC program in the clinic and through community outreach activities.
• Develop relationships with staff and partnering community agencies.
• Maintain a compassionate clinic environment.
• Promote breastfeeding as the normative infant feeding method in the clinic.
• Provide evidence-based breastfeeding support and education within the clinic role.
• Ensure confidentiality of applicant and client information.
• Follow all Indiana WIC program policies and procedures.
• Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of local agency breastfeeding activities.
• Keep up-to-date with breastfeeding information and disseminate to staff.
• Ensure staff are trained on breastfeeding education and support.
• Provide input on the breastfeeding portion of the local agency’s fiscal budget.
• Provide supervision and support of local agency breastfeeding staff.
• Ensure the clinic environment and client services are breastfeeding-friendly.
• Log and monitor breastfeeding supplies issuance and inventory.
• Monitor local agency breastfeeding rates and data.
• Maintain written protocols and community resource lists.
• Coordinate with community breastfeeding stakeholders.
• Document required information in INWIC MIS.
• Participate in in-service education and staff meetings.
• Attend off-site conferences and meetings as needed.
