Job summary

Unified Women’s Healthcare, through Unified Mammography Services, seeks a Breast Ultrasound Technologist for its San Antonio office. You will perform breast ultrasound exams, operate imaging equipment, and assist radiologists with diagnostic interpretation.

You must be ARDMS registered and have at least 2 years of breast sonography experience. You will collaborate with mammography staff and physicians, maintain equipment, and document findings in the EMR.

Qualifications

• ARDMS registered sonographer is required.
• Eligible for ARDMS Advanced Breast Registry or ARRT Breast Sonography within six months of hire is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Breast Sonographer.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential.
• Proficiency with PACS and RIS systems and MS Word/Excel is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform breast ultrasound exams and ensure accurate image capture.
• Explain the procedure to patients to ensure comfort and cooperation.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and sterile exam rooms.
• Evaluate images for quality and provide preliminary findings to radiologists.
• Present images and findings to the healthcare team and document in EMR.
• Collaborate with Mammography technologists and Radiologists for optimal patient care.
• Review prior images and reports prior to exams.
• Operate PACS, EMR, and related imaging systems.

Embedded within our network of affiliated OBGYN provider practices, this offers patients an intimate and familiar in-office environment, offering a convenient one-stop solution for well-women visits and annual screening mammograms.

Unified Mammography Services is seeking a Breast Ultrasound Technologist for its Mammography office at an affiliated practice in San Antonio, TX.

The Breast Ultrasound technologist works directly with the operations manager, the office manager, and any other staff assigned to the location. The Sonographer will perform clinical breast ultrasound procedures utilizing a background in anatomy, physiology, physics, and instrumentation to provide technical information to aid the radiologist in diagnosis.A sonographer must also possess certain values and abilities,including social perceptiveness, critical thinking, clear communication, active listening, and patient problem sensitivity.

Location: 3903 Wiseman Blvd Ste 202, San Antonio, TX 78251

Work Schedule: Coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performing the ultrasound and ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images correctly
• Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients to avoid confusion
• Maintaining ultrasound equipment and sterilizing the room in which the procedure takes place
• Evaluating the images for quality, and interpreting what the image captured
• Presenting images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team
• Maintaining patient records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure
• Work closely with the Mammography technologists and Radiologist to ensure the capture of appropriate information and prior imaging.
• Review all prior images and reports before completing an exam
• Utilize PACS, EMR, and any other systems related to imaging

Additional Job Functions

• Attend Unified and UMAMS meetings
• Complete all assigned compliance and education requirements
• Assist in special projects
• Other duties as assigned
• Training of other technologists as needed

Qualifications

• ARDMS registered sonographer
• You must also have, or be eligible to obtain within six months of hire, an ARDMS Advanced Breast Registry or ARRT Breast Sonography certification.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Breast Sonographer
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Previous experience working in an imaging environment is highly desirable
• Proficient in PACS and RIS Systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to communicate effectively in English as required by job duties
• Must be able to understand and follow safety instructions provided in English
• Role requires reading and writing in English to complete documentation, reports, and compliance requirements
• Ability to interact with customers, clients, or regulators in English as needed
