Job summary

UW Health in northern Illinois is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Breast Surgery team. You will work with a fellowship-trained breast surgeon in a comprehensive program offering personalized, evidence-based care for benign and malignant breast conditions.

Qualifications

• Licensed physician assistant (PA-C) in Illinois or ability to obtain license before start.
• NCCPA board certification with prescriptive authority in Illinois.
• Surgical experience preferred; interest in breast surgery/oncology is valued.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operative evaluations with physical exams and review imaging.
• Assist in OR for lumpectomy, mastectomy, and sentinel node biopsy.
• Manage post-operative follow-ups, wound care, and drain management.
• Provide education, emotional support and care coordination for complex diagnoses.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and care planning.
• Coordinate care across specialties for timely referrals and treatment initiation.
• Support clinic efficiency with independent patient visits and documentation.
• Care for patients with benign conditions and elevated cancer risk.
