Job summary

The CommonSpirit Health in Lakewood is seeking a fellowship-trained breast surgeon to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to high-quality patient-centered care in managing breast disease. The successful candidate will work with various specialists and participate in community outreach.

This role requires expertise in breast surgery, collaborative care, and the ability to engage in clinical research and mentorship. They will manage surgical evaluations and coordinate individualized treatment plans for patients with breast conditions.

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed a residency or fellowship in Breast Surgery or Surgical Oncology.
  • Must obtain and maintain an unrestricted DEA registration.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive surgical evaluation and management of benign and malignant breast disease.
  • Perform a full spectrum of breast surgery including mastectomies and sentinel node biopsies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary breast clinic and tumor board conferences.
  • Support community outreach, education, and breast cancer awareness initiatives.

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following

  • Must have successfully completed a residency or fellowship commensurate with Breast Surgery or Surgical Oncology.
  • Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (“DEA”) registration;
  • Be board certified or eligible in Breast Surgery/Surgical Oncology, by a board acceptable to Hospital;
  • Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system, at sponsoring institution
  • Doctorate MD or DO required
  • DR-Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Colorado required

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Where You'll Work

The Common Spirit St. Anthony Lakewood Comprehensive Breast Program is seeking a fellowship-trained breast surgeon to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum of breast disease management. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with medical and radiation oncology, breast imaging, pathology, plastic surgery, genetics and supportive care services to provide evidence-based coordinated treatment for patients with benign and malignant breast conditions. This position offers the opportunity to participate in a growing breast program with access to advanced imaging, tumor board collaboration, clinical research, and innovative surgical technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive surgical evaluation and management of benign and malignant breast disease.
  • Perform the full spectrum of breast surgery including breast conservation, oncoplastic surgery, mastectomy, sentinel node biopsy, axillary dissection and advanced surgical techniques.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary breast clinic and tumor board conferences
  • Collaborate with the breast team to coordinate individualized treatment plans.
  • Support and advance quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based care pathways and program development.
  • Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in community outreach, education, and breast cancer awareness initiatives.
  • Engage in clinical research, teaching, and mentorship opportunities as available.
  • Foster a compassionate patient-centered environment emphasizing shared decision-making and survivorship care.
