Job summary

Tulane University in New Orleans seeks a Research Assistant to support the Department of Medicine/Tulane Cancer Center in breast cancer research tasks. You will handle pre-clinical cancer models, including cell culture, and perform molecular biology techniques.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, mammalian cell culture, in vitro live-cell imaging setup, qPCR, western blots, and immunostaining. The role requires enrollment as a Tulane student and availability for at least one semester

Qualifications

• Active enrollment as a Tulane student.
• Completed general biology and general chemistry courses.
• Preference for cell & molecular biology, genetics coursework.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory equipment maintenance (autoclaving, solution prep, cleaning).
• Mammalian cell culture.
• Set up and perform in vitro live cell imaging experiments to assess cancer cell growth, viability and migration after inhibitors or genetic changes.
• Perform qPCR, western blots, and immunostaining of tissue sections.
• Assist with recordkeeping for animal experiments.
