Daylight in New York City is seeking a hands-on Design Lead to shape how we show up in the world. You will partner closely with the Creative Director to evolve our foundation into something recognizable, memorable, and worthy of the mission.

This role offers ownership in building a high-visibility national brand, guiding design from concept to execution in a fast-paced, early-stage environment. You will lead by doing, from the nitty-gritty to the strategic.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of professional design experience.
• Strong fundamentals in typography, layout, color, and composition.
• Ability to evolve an existing brand into a cohesive, recognizable system.
• Comfort working across brand, marketing, and light product surfaces.
• Autonomy to operate independently and move work forward.
• Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Evolve Daylight’s visual identity across marketing, product-adjacent, and storytelling touchpoints.
• Translate creative direction into high-quality, shippable design work with strong craft, taste, and cohesion.
• Design for impact across large-scale regional campaigns and product launches, and maintain design systems.
• Bring original perspective and stay current on culture, trends, and emerging tools to keep the brand fresh.
• Direct and collaborate, creating concepts and storyboards and guiding external partners when needed.

The Role

We are looking for an executor who is ready to take ownership. If you have been honing your craft and are now looking to play a pivotal role in shaping a brand from the inside out, this is your chance to take things to the next level. You will have the autonomy to drive work from concept to execution, building in an early-stage, fast-paced environment to create a system that scales.

• A Builder Across All Altitudes: You welcome projects great and small. You are excited to lead high-visibility national campaigns, but you also take pride in the 'nitty-gritty' day-to-day design work that keeps the engine running.
• A Hands-On Leader: You may be a Senior Designer ready to step up, or a Design Director who misses the tools. What matters is that you love the craft, you sweat the details, and you lead through making.
• A Brand Shaper: You don’t just execute tickets; you help define the visual voice. You prefer shaping a brand through tangible work rather than process decks.
• A Strategic Partner: You will collaborate closely with Brand, Product, and Growth Marketing to ensure our visual storytelling is consistent, whether it's on a billboard or inside the app

This role is in-person in our New York City office.

Responsibilities

• Evolve the Brand: Execute and expand Daylight’s visual identity across marketing, product-adjacent, and storytelling touchpoints.
• Drive Quality & Output: Translate creative direction into high-quality, shippable design work. You will maintain a consistently high bar for craft, taste, and cohesion.
• Design for Impact: Manage the full spectrum of production—from designing large-scale regional campaigns and product launches to maintaining our design systems.
• Bring a Point of View: Bring original perspective rather than defaulting to formulas. Stay current on culture, design trends, and emerging tools (including AI-powered workflows) to keep the brand fresh.
• Direct & Collaborate: Create concepts and storyboards to support larger initiatives. When needed, you will direct external partners—including illustrators, motion designers, and studios—making thoughtful decisions on when to execute personally vs. when to leverage outside talent.

• Versatility: Comfort working across brand, marketing, and light product surfaces.
• Storytelling: Strong instincts for visual narrative and judgment.
• Autonomy: The ability to operate independently and move work forward without constant oversight.
• Modern Fluency: Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative suite) and workflows, including AI-assisted creation.
