Position Summary
As a Branch Color Blender Specialist at Sherwin‑Williams, you will work closely with commercial paint customers to determine their needs, answer questions about our products, recommend solutions, prepare customer orders, blend colors, make shade adjustments, and resolve customer concerns while maintaining the highest visual and quality standards of products and the store. You will also consistently meet the store’s sales goals. This role is located at Store #704359, 1100 Western Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 and will involve reviewing criminal history as required to protect customers, staff, vendors and the public.
Responsibilities
- Prepare customer orders, including blending initial batch, making shade adjustments, filling and labeling batches.
- Make shade and gloss adjustments to meet customer requirements.
- Prepare spray‑out and draw‑down test panels.
- Expense mistints daily.
- Establish and maintain accurate customer work order files and formulas.
- Ensure customers’ quality and service expectations are met.
- Clean and repair store equipment.
- Identify equipment problems and make recommendations.
- Operate all material handling, tinting, mixing and testing equipment in a safe manner.
- Properly store all partial containers to correct inventory location.
- Provide input regarding inventory levels in the warehouse/stockroom.
- Identify potential obsolete or damaged material and handle per established policy/procedures.
- Maintain daily cleanup of lab, product service room and equipment.
- Maintain facility to S‑W standards through proper maintenance, repair and housekeeping.
- Identify facility problems and make recommendations.
- Follow designated loss prevention, security and safety practices according to policy and correct or report non‑compliance of appropriate procedures/policies.
- Take immediate action to contain spillage using hazardous material containment procedures as outlined in the Work Safe Manual, including proper and timely reporting.
- Be familiar with the proper handling, storing, labeling, cleaning up spills, disposing of and filing all paperwork associated with hazardous material/waste.
Additional Duties
- Assist with general warehouse, delivery and customer service duties as needed, including loading and unloading of material and waiting on customers.
- Operate POS for all types of transactions.
- Know stock limits and be familiar with stock order procedures.
- Assist with physical inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications – Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without requiring sponsorship for future visa status.
- Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. on occasion.
- Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- If internal to Sherwin‑Williams, must have received at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on the most recent performance appraisal.
- If internal to Sherwin‑Williams, must have completed all HR Cloud eLearning courses required for the current position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Have at least a High School diploma or GED.
- Have at least one (1) year experience working in a delivery, retail, or customer service position.
- Have previous work experience selling paint and paint‑related products.
- Have previous work experience operating tinting and mixing equipment.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in Spanish.
