Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, operations, management, or a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in branch operations, sales, distribution, retail, construction materials, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience with responsibility for employee selection, coaching, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial results, budgets, operational goals, and performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to build an accountable, customer-focused team.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving ability with timely business and personnel decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of branch operations including sales, customer service, inventory, logistics, staffing, safety, and facility appearance.
  • Own the financial performance of the branch by developing and executing plans to achieve revenue, profitability, expense and growth goals.
  • Establish branch goals, monitor KPIs, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Team to develop customer relationships and achieve branch sales targets.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer experience by resolving concerns and maintaining service standards.
  • Plan staffing needs and work with Talent Acquisition to recruit and retain qualified team members.
  • Coach and develop employees through feedback, performance management, and succession planning.

We're hiring a Branch Manager L&M to join County Materials in Appleton, WI.

Job Summary

The Branch Manager L&M provides overall leadership for branch operations and is accountable for financial performance, sales growth, customer service, inventory management, safety, and team development. This role partners with regional and corporate leadership to execute business strategies, improve operational efficiency, build a strong talent pipeline, and ensure the branch consistently meets company standards and performance goals.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of branch operations, including sales, customer service, inventory, logistics, staffing, safety, and facility appearance.
  • Own the financial performance of the branch by developing and executing plans to achieve revenue, profitability, expense, and growth goals.
  • Establish branch goals, monitor key performance indicators, identify performance gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with the Regional Sales Team to develop customer relationships, execute sales strategies, and achieve branch sales targets.
  • Deliver a best-in-class customer experience by resolving concerns, maintaining service standards, and promoting responsive, solution-oriented support.
  • Plan branch staffing needs and partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit, select, onboard, and retain qualified team members.
  • Coach and develop employees through clear expectations, regular feedback, performance management, recognition, and succession planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive work environment that reflects company values and supports employee engagement.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, product availability, receiving, storage, and material movement while minimizing loss and excess inventory.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase operational efficiency, service quality, and productivity.
  • Implement and enforce all safety programs, training requirements, and safe work practices; promptly address hazards and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and L&M Division branch appearance standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between branch employees and regional and corporate leadership, communicating business needs, results, and priorities.
  • Operate equipment, including a forklift or skid steer, as needed and when properly trained and authorized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support branch and organizational needs.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required equipment certifications, including forklift or skid-steer certification, as applicable.
Work Environment
  • Ability to work in office, warehouse, yard, and outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Travel required: Up to 20%, may be required for meetings, training, or support of other locations with occasional overnight stays.
  • Typical work hours/shifts: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm. In peak season, as needed, longer shifts, very minimal weekends are required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, as business needs require.
