Hancock County Public Library is seeking a part-time Librarian Assistant to support circulation and clerical tasks in a friendly public-library setting. This role handles patron inquiries, material circulation, and basic reference assistance.
The position involves computer searches, card registration, fines processing, and helping with programs and book clubs, with schedules including weekend hours every few weeks. Requires high school diploma and valid Indiana driver's license.
Part Time - 25 hours per week
Pay: $13/hour
Monday 8am-1pm, Tuesday 12pm-5pm, Wednesday 12pm-5pm, Thursday 3pm-8pm, Friday either 8am-1pm or 1pm-6pm.
Saturday 8am-5pm & Sunday 12pm-4pm
The weekend schedule of Saturday and Sunday is every 3 weeks. If you are schedule to work the weekend you will have that Friday off.
Performs circulation and clerical functions to serve the library’s patrons in a friendly manner and to maintain circulation of the library’s various materials.
Is responsible for accurate handling of payment transactions and maintains confidentiality.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
High school diploma or High School Equivalency Exam (HSE). Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Database Software; Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Publishing Software (Publisher); Presentation software (PowerPoint); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); Integrated Library System (ILS) software, Room and Event software; and Scheduling software; and Mobile Devices including eReaders; and skills to work in Mac & PC environment.
