Job summary

The Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, IL seeks a Branch Early Literacy Coordinator to plan and present engaging programs for birth through kindergarten. You will lead storytimes, play, crafts, and early literacy experiences at branch locations.

You will supervise children’s spaces, support families, assist with readers’ advisory, and provide basic tech help. Hours are 37.5 per week with weekday, evening, and weekend shifts at Rakow and South Elgin branches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience working with children in group settings.
• Experience or knowledge of early literacy practices and programming preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with basic computer and mobile technology.
• Previous library and customer service experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus.

Are you a creative, hands-on leader with a passion for bringing the library to life for our youngest customers? The Branch Early Literacy Coordinator plans and presents engaging early childhood programs for children from birth through kindergarten, including storytimes, play programs, crafts, and other early literacy experiences at our branch locations.

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and customer service skills who is passionate about early literacy and creating welcoming, engaging learning experiences for young children and their families.

Hours
