Job summary

Fire Manufacturing Innovations seeks an experienced CNC Press Brake Operator in Ohio to set up tooling, document safe practices, and verify machine settings for precise tolerances. You will read drawings, operate controls, deburr and inspect parts to ensure quality, while maintaining organized work areas and communicating issues to shift teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up and document tooling and safe practices for Press Brake operations.
• Verify accuracy of machine settings to confirm tolerances and machine functions.
• Maintain accurate parts and motivation in routine, repetitive work.
• Keep machine and work area clean and organized.
• Perform in-process checks to maintain tolerances and quality.
• Complete safety procedures before and during operations.
• Communicate production issues to next shift operators or supervisors.
• Operate, prove programs, set machine controls, deburr and inspect parts to ensure conformance.
• Read drawings or sketches to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Organize work area before/after processing; stack parts properly to avoid double handling.
• Detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust within capabilities; report issues.
• Calculate blank sizes, bend locations, tonnage, and tooling for each part.
• Coordinate with management, production control, quality for assignments and issue resolution.
• Understand and work within ERP system (Epicor).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Support business needs across departments as needed.

Job purpose

Setup and safely operate CNC Press Brakes to process/produce highest quality products.

Duties and responsibilities

• Setup and document tooling and safe practices for Press Brake operations
• Verify accuracy of machine settings to confirm accurate tolerances and machine functions.
• Operators will be required to maintain accurate parts and motivation in routine repetitive jobs.
• During operations Operator will be required to maintain cleanliness of the machine.
• In process, checks will be required by the operator to maintain all required tolerances and quality.
• Completes all required safety procedures prior to and during operations.
• Communicate all production related items to next shift operators or shift supervisors.
• Responsible for operation, proving programs, operating controls, setting all machine functions, deburring and inspection of parts to assure conformance will be required.
• Must be able to work from drawings and sketches, read and understand manuals/specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
• Skilled in organizing work area before and after parts are processed, stacking completed parts properly on blocks or pallet to eliminate double handling and work efficiently
• Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management.
• Ability to calculate, blank sizes, bend locations, appropriate tonnage and tooling for each part being formed
• Communicates with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
• Ability to understand and work within an ERP System (Epicor)
• May perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Support business needs in current position and other departments as needed

Qualifications

• Proven experience as CNC operator
• Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
• Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
• Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
• A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
• Good communication abilities
• High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus

Working conditions

Brake press operators work 6am-2:30pm with overtime available in the evenings and weekends in a manufacturing facility where they may be subject to loud noise.

Physical requirements

Press brake operators work with their hands, lifting and moving large pieces of metal, and stand for hours at a time, all of which require physical strength and stamina. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

Additional Details

Pay: Starting at $21.50/hour + $2.00/hour Shift Differential
Schedule – 9:30pm - 6:00am Sunday - Thursday onsite
