JOB SUMMARY
The Brake Operator is responsible for operating and setting up press brake equipment to produce high-quality metal components according to customer specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to troubleshoot forming issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Brake Operator will work collaboratively with team members to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are consistently met.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate various sizes of brake press equipment to form metal components to specification.
- Perform all necessary setup and layout of equipment, tooling, and jobs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions accurately.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Perform forming operations to specified parameters while maintaining quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and correct forming issues as necessary.
- Log all production activity into the ERP system (JobBOSS).
- Assist Cell Leader in quoting and evaluating new projects as needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance on brake press equipment and tooling.
- Assist with material handling and movement using forklift equipment as required.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas while following all company safety procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of brake press operating experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
- Experience operating Cincinnati Incorporated brake press equipment or similar machinery preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of measuring instruments including calipers and micrometers.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
- Experience with roll-forming equipment is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and work effectively in a team environment.
- Technical training or certification in machining or metal fabrication is a plus.
- Must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and a positive "Can-Do" attitude.
