Job summary

Benton Harbor Area Schools is seeking a Boys Junior Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach (Through EduStaff) at Benton Harbor High School. You will assist the head coach in leading and supervising the JV team and collaborate with campus staff to support the athletic program.

The role emphasizes coaching fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, and the promotion of student-athlete development within an urban school setting. Teaching credentials and college degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience coaching basketball and motivating student-athletes.
• Ability to coach effectively in an urban school district.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in coaching and supervising the boys junior varsity basketball team and support the overall school athletic program.
• Encourage multi-sport participation among student-athletes.
• Provide and reinforce training rules for all athletes.
• Understand and follow MHSAA policies, rules, and guidelines at all times.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor to student-athletes.
• Work collaboratively with the head coach and other coaching staff to maintain consistent program expectations.
• Attend MHSAA and league meetings as needed.
• Promote teamwork, fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with designing training, conditioning, and practice programs for JV athletes.
• Teach and reinforce basketball fundamentals, team concepts, and game strategies.
• Assist with coordination of team transportation and away-game logistics.
