Job summary

The Apache Junction Unified School District is seeking a Boys Basketball Varsity Assistant Coach at Apache Junction High School for the 26-27 season. This seasonal stipend position reports to the Athletic Coordinator or Principal and requires a commitment to safety, ethics, and community engagement.

Qualified applicants must have NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching and Concussion in Sports certifications, CPR/First Aid, a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card, and a teaching certificate or coaching

Qualifications

• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certification or approved equivalent.
• Concussion in Sports certification required.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Fingerprint Clearance Card with IVP # and background check.
• Knowledge of sport rules and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Coach student athletes in assigned responsibility.
• Organize and supervise the overall sports program.
• Establish rapport with students, staff and community.
• Promote ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Promote safe practices to reduce injuries.
• Foster camaraderie through team activities and community involvement.
• Attend district or AIA meetings as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• * Coach student athletes in area of assigned responsibility


• * Organize and supervise a total sports program


• * Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and community members


• * Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality


• * Promote safe practices to lessen participant injuries


• * Establish a sense of comradery among our players through teambuilding, fundraising, service projects, etc.


• * Attend any school district and/or AIA meetings as directed by supervising coach or Athletic Director


• * Other job related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• * Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online \"Fundamentals of Coaching\" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1)


• * Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online \"Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know\" course (AIA Rule 17.1)


• * Current Certification in \"Hands on\" CPR and First Aid


• * Must have aFingerprint Clearance Card with IVP # and pass background clearance check


• * Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules and safety concerns for the sport to be coached


• * Skill in communicating with all stakeholders


• * Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA (www.aiaonline.org) and Apache Junction Unified School District #43

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor\'s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Arizona Teaching Certificate or team coach with certificated personnel.

OTHER INFORMATION

• * May be required to work outside normal working hours


• * May be required to travel to perform work functions


• * Must utilize online platforms required for specific sports like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others
