Job summary

Thornton Fractional High School District 215 is seeking an assistant athletic coach to support the Head Coach in developing student athletes within our extracurricular and athletic programs.

The role requires adherence to IHSA standards, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to education and district values. Prior coaching in a sponsored activity and HS setting are preferred; bilingual English-Spanish abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• IHSA qualifications must be met per IHSA Constitution and By-Laws.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to education and district values.
• Experience as a coach in the activity sponsored preferred.
• Experience working in a high school setting preferred.
• Bilingual English–Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows proper administrative lines of command and routes requests through proper channels.
• Assists Head Coach with transportation to contests, tournaments and athletic events.
• Assists in preparation for scheduled sport events or practices and coordinates facility times.
• Distributes and collects documentation to meet state and school district eligibility requirements.
• Distributes team rules and training rules to participating athletes.
• Provides supervision of athletes at practices, games and travel.
• Directs student managers and statisticians on teams.
• Maintains equipment inventory and end-of-season reporting for the Head Coach.
