Job description

The School Athletic Coach is responsible for leading, instructing, and motivating student-athletes within a specific sports program. The primary focus is to develop athletic skills, promote physical fitness, and instill core values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline, all while prioritizing student safety and academic success.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruction & Skill Development: Plan and execute structured practice sessions to teach sport-specific techniques, strategies, and rules.
• Student Mentorship: Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that emphasizes character development, leadership, and academic accountability.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to school, district, and state athletic association guidelines. Monitor student physical condition and maintain a safe environment.
• Game-Day Management: Manage team strategy, player rotations, and logistics during home and away competitions. Represent the school with professional conduct.
• Communication: Act as the primary liaison between student-athletes, parents, school administration, and athletic directors regarding schedules, expectations, and student progress.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Proven experience playing or coaching the specific sport, preferably in an educational or youth league setting.
• Certifications: Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Relevant state coaching certifications and background clearances as required by the district.
• Core Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate adolescents and handle high-pressure situations with composure.
