Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a Shred-it Route Driver to provide industry-leading document destruction service for clients, loading and unloading the vehicle and ensuring cargo is secured in compliance with policy and laws.

The role requires 3+ years driving box trucks with route management, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work 10-hour days, four days a week starting at 6am. A boot allowance of $250 is provided.

Qualifications

• 3 years of driving experience, preferably with box trucks and route management.
• Valid Driver's License held without suspension.
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs on-site/off-site document destruction for clients.
• Completes pre/post-trip vehicle checks and reports maintenance needs.
• Operates equipment safely to minimize risk of injury or damage.
• Maintains DOT logs and complies with hours of service.
• Serves accounts using handheld device; ensures barcode accuracy and locations.
• Manages routes to service confidential material promptly and accurately.
• Responds to customer inquiries swiftly and in WM's best interest.

I. Job Summary

The Shred-it Route Driver is responsible for providing industry leading levels of service to clients while taking care of all customer document destruction needs, including transporting supplies and materials, safely and in accordance with company policy and all local and federal laws. This involves loading and unloading the delivery vehicle and ensuring that all cargo is safely secured before transport.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information
• Performs pre/post-trip checks, and driver check-in on assigned truck, prior to leaving or closing for the day. Reports maintenance issues to Transportation/Dispatcher for follow-up
• Operates company equipment in a safe and efficient manner in an effort to minimize the risk of injury and equipment damage
• Complies with all local, Provincial and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service. Complete and maintain DOT logs when applicable
• Maintains a high level of security when emptying consoles and/or collection totes by ensuring all documents are retrieved and the consoles/containers are securely locked
• Services accounts using a hand-held device, ensuring console/containers are barcoded, locations are up to date, and the accuracy of type and quantity of consoles/containers
• Manages assigned routes ensuring customers’ confidential material collected and serviced in a timely and accurate manner
• Handles and responds to all customer problems and inquiries expediently and in the best interest of both the customer and WMHS
• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

III. Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

• 3 years of experience, preferably in driving Box Trucks and route management
• Valid Driver's License

• High School Diploma or GED (accredited)

Field: This job operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.

This role is designated as safety sensitive and will require the successful candidate to strictly comply with all safety rules and protocols. As part of the ongoing employment requirements, the successful candidate may be subject to drug and alcohol testing—including pre‑employment screening, post‑incident evaluations, reasonable suspicion checks, and random testing—in accordance with government regulations and company policies.
