Job summary

Brunswick Boat Group is seeking an experienced welder to join our fabrication team. You will perform MIG and TIG welding on steel and aluminum, fabricate components from engineering prints, and ensure parts meet precise dimensions and tolerances.

The role requires safety awareness, blueprints reading, and proficiency with fabrication tools. You will work on a variety of marine-related assemblies on a shop floor environment with rigorous quality standards.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED, or 1+ year related experience
  • Proven welder with experience across MIG and TIG welding
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including cold saw, band saw, grinders
  • Ability to read/hear and exchange information clearly with others

Responsibilities

  • Weld with MIG and TIG on steel and aluminum components
  • Fabricate using cutting, grinding, drilling, fitting, bending, tack welding and assembly
  • Measure, lay out, cut, fit, align and weld to required dimensions
  • Operate fabrication equipment: cold saws, band saws, grinders, drills, plasma cutters

Position Overview:

As part of the talented Brunswick team, you will possess knowledge and experience in metal fabrication and fitment, as well as experience in the construction process of new product mold tooling. This knowledge and experience would cover aspects of tooling mold construction, steel bracing, and welding. These molds include but are not limited to hulls, liners, decks, small parts, fixtures, and other production support equipment.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel and aluminum components and assemblies.
  • Perform metal fabrication activities including cutting, grinding, drilling, fitting, bending, tack welding, finishing, and assembly.
  • Measure, lay out, cut, fit, align, and weld components to required dimensions and specifications.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including cold saws, band saws, chop saws, grinders, drills, plasma cutters, torches, metal cutting equipment, and other hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, fabrication prints, weld symbols, dimensions, and specifications.
  • Fabricate components and assemblies from engineering prints, drawings, sketches, samples, or measurements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to fabricate or modify components when detailed prints are not available by taking accurate measurements and determining appropriate materials, dimensions, fit‑up, and fabrication methods.
  • Perform fit‑up and alignment of steel and aluminum components prior to welding.
  • Fabricate and repair items such as frames, brackets, supports, fixtures, carts, platforms, guards, production support equipment, and other welded assemblies.
  • Modify, repair, and rework existing steel and aluminum components as required.
  • Inspect completed work for weld quality, dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment, and overall workmanship.
  • Identify fabrication problems and recommend practical solutions or improvements.
  • Complete assigned fabrication work within established schedules and priorities.
  • Maintain welding machines, fabrication equipment, hand tools, and work areas in proper working condition.
  • Interface effectively with other employees, supervisors, engineers, and managers throughout the organization.
  • Support departmental 6S initiatives, ensuring safety standards are followed and work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow company policies and procedures and immediately report observed safety concerns to a supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience as a welder, including usage of a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and the use of PPE (welding helmet, face‑shield, gloves, safety glasses, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including cold saw, tape measure, band saw, general power tools
  • Ability to read/hear, interpret and/or understand instructions given verbally or written and exchange accurate information with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Welding Certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experienced in all aspects of mental working, fabrication, and welding (torch and plasma cutting, Mig and Tig welding, pipe bending, metal cutting machines, mill work)
  • Self‑starter, high energy individual who performs assignments effectively.
Working Conditions:
  • Shop floor working environment.
  • Shop floor is non-climate controlled. Temperature fluctuates with outside environmental conditions, such as air temperature, radiant heat from sunlight, air movement, and humidity levels.
  • Frequent exposure to high‑temperatures, including a hot and humid environment, especially during summer months.
  • Noise level is moderate with intervals of spikes
  • Required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and utilize other safety equipment and personal protect equipment (PPE) while present on the production/shop floor.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, resins, fiberglass dust & cloths, epoxy, composites, and other chemicals.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of times.
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb, and lift or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $20.66-$32.02 hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
