Job summary

Brunswick Corporation's Boston Whaler team in Edgewater, FL seeks skilled fiberglass repair technicians to service hulls, decks and small parts using spray guns, buffers and other finishing tools. You will inspect parts and follow job instructions to ensure a flawless product.

This onsite role requires reading blueprints, following safety standards, and teamwork. Experience in marine finishing is preferred; English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• Must follow safety and quality standards, PPE required.
• Understand handling of solvents, paints, pastes, putty, and wax and proper disposal.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to use hand and pneumatic tools, buffers and abrasives.
• Team-oriented and able to work with coworkers.
• Fluent in English (read/write/speak).
• High school diploma or GED required.

Position Overview

As part of the talented Boston Whaler team, you will be responsible for repairs of fiberglass boat hulls, decks and small parts. They are key drivers of delivering a flawless product by using a variety of skills. They will be responsible for inspection and understand fiberglass finishing. They will need to use a variety of tools which includes but are not limited to spray guns, buffers, grinders, drills and/or other specialty tools and fixtures.

Essential Functions

• Repairs fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts using spray gun with paint, buffer with wax, polish, compound, fillers, putty, and/or paste
• Hand tools may include gel-coat spray equipment, grinders, buffers, drills, or other specialty tools and fixtures
• Understand and follow verbal and written directions
• Responsible for parts inspection and understanding fiberglass finish or basic use of abrasives
• Works following specific job instructions, frequently reading and providing verbal and/or written status of part completion
• Hand tools may include gel-coat spray equipment, grinders, buffers, drills, or other specialty tools and fixtures

Required Qualifications

• Must always follow all safety and quality standards, including chemical handling standards and PPE (personal protective equipment)
• Must understand the handling and application of solvents, paints, pastes, putty, and wax along with proper disposal
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Ability to use hand, and pneumatic tools, buffer and abrasive sanding Repairs fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts using spray gun with paint, buffer with wax, polish, compound, fillers, putty, and/or paste
• Ability to work with fellow coworkers in proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect
• Ability to fluently speak, read, understand, and write English

Preferred Qualifications

• Two plus years of finishing in the marine industry preferred
• Fiberglass repair and finishing experience preferred

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $19.63-$30.39 hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
