Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) to enforce immigration, customs, and agriculture laws at U.S. entry points.

Roles span inspections, admissibility determinations, and preventing illegal entry while supporting lawful travel and trade. Candidates may qualify at GS-5, GS-7, or GS-9 levels with possible promotions to GS-11/12. Base pay varies by grade; incentives and comprehensive federal benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Experience with border security or public safety is beneficial.
• Ability to apply laws and regulations to determine admissibility.
• Familiarity with inspection of persons and conveyances is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Inspect individuals and conveyances to determine admissibility.
• Assess risk and apply procedures for arrests, seizures, and enforcement.
• Support lawful travel and trade while maintaining border security.
