Job summary

AUSTIN POWDER COMPANY is seeking responsible employees for a position focused on the packaging and handling of explosive products. This role is safety-sensitive, requiring adherence to strict protocols and compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably 1 year of experience in manufacturing or explosive handling. Candidates must also be capable of safely operating equipment and will be expected to pass blood checks for chemical exposure.

Qualifications

• Must meet all state and federal explosive laws.

• Follow all written work instructions related to packaging and handling of explosive products.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Follow all written work instructions and standard operating procedures related to packaging and handling of explosive products
• Inspect manufactured products for accuracy and quality
• Identify and report hazards within the production area
• Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Collaborate with supervisors and area leads to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Operate and maintain manufacturing vehicles as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with regulatory standards
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Perform other duties as assigned by the area lead, supervisor, or department manager

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing or explosive/chemical handling preferred
• Mechanically inclined with a basic understanding of equipment operation and maintenance
• Must meet all state and federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive processor
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

• Strong manual dexterity and physical stamina
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Availability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice
• Comfortable working in environments with loud noise (50–90 decibels), hot/cold temperatures, and wet floors
• Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 60 lbs and stand/walk for up to 10 hours per day
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to wear work uniforms and required PPE
• Must pass semi-annual blood checks due to potential chemical exposure
• Ability to be fitted for and wear a half-faced formal respirator as needed
• Comfortable working on ladders and handling chemicals
• Must be able to repeatedly bend and perform physical tasks

This is a safety sensitive position that requires employees to disclose any prescription medication that may affect their ability to safely perform essential functions.
