Job summary

Purcell Tire & Service Centers is seeking an experienced Roadside Tire Technician to service commercial vehicles on-site and on-call. You will inspect tires, inflate to correct pressure, mount/dismount wheels, and use balancing equipment.

This role requires a Class A CDL with a current DOT medical card, CTS certification, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions. You will maintain tools, customer relationships, and follow safety procedures while supporting after-hours schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School.
• Minimum job-specific experience: 3-5 years.
• Driver’s license: CLASS A CDL + current DOT Medical card.
• Other certifications: Tire Industry Association CTS certification; DOT medical clearance; MSHA training where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadside tire service on commercial vehicles, including after-hours on-call.
• Perform tire service on customer sites and identify/inflate tires to correct size and ply.
• Mount/dismount wheels using lug wrenches and balancing equipment; replace valve stems.
• Repair punctured tires and maintain service vehicle and stocks.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and reflect corporate safety image.

MISSION

To address the tire needs of customers in a safe, approved manner using the proper tools and proper techniques on customer property and roadside assistance calls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Perform roadside tire service on commercial vehicles (both scheduled hours and after hours on-call)
• Perform tire service on customer sites
• Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply
• Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels
• Dismount wheels from trucks/equipment using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools
• Mount wheels onto trucks/equipment
• Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects
• Repair tires that have been punctured
• Maintain service vehicle – daily inspections, oil changes, etc.
• Keep truck fully stocked with tire accessories
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers
• Maintain tools and related tire accessories
• Maintain a clean shop and truck to reflect the proper corporate image to the public
• Protect company assets

DRUG TESTING

This position will operate vehicles with a GVWR greater than 26,000 pounds. Therefore, this position is regulated by the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and is subject to drug testing for illegal drugs and marijuana/THC.

PAY AND BENEFITS

• Total Compensation Range: $18.00 - $40.00 per hour*

*Outside Service Technicians are compensated through a combination of hourly pay, daytime service commission, and night/weekend service commission. The listed range represents an estimated total of all compensation sources, listed as an hourly rate. Variables include relevant experience, certifications, geographic location, and willingness to participate in after-hours/on-call programs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

• Minimum Education: High School
• Minimum Job-Specific Experience: 3-5 years
• Management Experience: N/A
• Driver’s License Required: CLASS A CDL + current DOT Medical card (or ability to obtain one as part of our pre-employment process paid for by Purcell Tire)
• Other Job-Specific Licenses or Certifications Required: Tire Industry Association CTS certification, vendor-provided training, DOT medical clearance, MSHA training (where applicable)
