Bookkeeper - Construction or Manufacturing exp

The Construction Bookkeeper is responsible for managing and maintaining financial records for a construction company. This includes job costing, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. The role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting practices and excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and job costing data
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
  • Manage payroll and ensure proper tracking of labor costs per project
  • Prepare and submit invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments
  • Track retainage, lien waivers, and compliance documents
  • Generate financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, job cost reports)
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Work with project managers to ensure job budgets are on track
  • Ensure compliance with tax and labor regulations
  • Support year-end audits and tax preparation

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of job costing and construction billing practices
  • Familiarity with AIA billing and progress invoicing is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred
