Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Production & Composition Assistant to support UT Press in supervising acquisition, design, production, promotion, and distribution of books and publishing rights. You will oversee art evaluation, typesetting in InDesign, and coordination with authors, designers, vendors, and printers.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Word and Excel, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and relevant experience preferred.
• Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, Word and Excel.
• Excellent eye for detail and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Art evaluations: log and organize images, rename files, and optimize images for printing.
• Book composition and typesetting using InDesign; adjust jackets and covers as needed.
• Process invoices, create purchase orders, and support production planning.
• Project management: estimate final page counts, monitor schedules, and coordinate with authors and printers.
• Manage approximately 25 e-books annually and 65 print-on-demand titles per year.
